The Medicine of Isis, Egyptian Sun Goddess

Isis was a powerful feminine goddess from Ancient Egypt. She was such an enduring symbol that her story went on to influence Greek mythology, Christianity and is still a well-known figure in today’s culture.

Her headdress with cow horns and solar disk represent both her great mother aspect and her powerful connection to the sun. The cobra symbol links to the story of how she coerced Ra the sun deity to share his power with her and the vulture on her head symbolises her amazing healing abilities, which include bringing Osiris back from death and removing deadly toxins from people’s bodies.

While consort to the God Osiris, Isis was the divine feminine equivalent, standing in her own power as both a healer and a protector of the people and lands. She was a symbol of harmony, the principle known as ma’at, showing capacity to balance the divine forces of love, wisdom and power.
